ABOUT THE PHOTOGRAPHER AND AUTHOR
Jean's love of travel began when she was five. That's when she announced that she was going to visit her little friend who lived 30 miles away. When her parents asked how, she told them she was going to take the train. And to their credit, they put her on a train with a name tag, telling the conductor to look after her. Thus began a career of travel around the world. She served 25 years as an Air Force officer and then started a second career as a travel and stock photographer. She has traveled in 64 countries and had over 1400 of her images published in books, magazines and advertising.
While Jean traveled extensively on her own, both during her AF career and after, many of these images and stories come from her trips with Semester at Sea (http:/:www.semesteratsea.org) a nonprofit organization that takes college students and a few senior adults on a trip of 100 days around the world stopping at 9-10 ports along the way.
INTRODUCTION
On these pages, you will find some stunning images from Jean's wanderings throughout the US and 64 countries abroad. Equally compelling are the stories, journal entries and excerpts from letters back home. Only a few stories are currently here, more will be added. (Note: These journals and emails were written without any intent to publish, so historical facts, etc are rather loosely inserted. Take them with a grain of salt. Only the experiences are unimpeachable. ) They are provided solely for your enjoyment.
